Have you Googled, “Best teen therapist near me?” lately? Perhaps you find your teen’s behaviour scary, and you’re not so sure what to do. You know that being a teenager is tough. Relationship struggles, identity development, avoiding bullying, and academic demands are just a few of the weights dragging your teen down.

Maybe your child has said something like

  • “You just don’t understand me?”,

  • ”I feel left out and not as good as the other kids.”

You may feel that you can’t relate to them anymore. You know deep within you that your child needs someone to help them navigate life with their friends, at school, and in your family. You want to have more peace in your home and fewer fights.

Or perhaps you are an adult searching for a greater sense of mental wellness. You know that life can feel better. Yes, you’ve gone through some mental, emotional, and perhaps physical challenges over the past few years. But you are ready to make a change. It would just be helpful to have someone on the journey with you…someone who can lead you toward helping yourself.

Hello! I’m Liz Evans. Often people see therapists as experts. Yes, our education and experience give us a different kind of insight. Yet, life's challenges serve to expand our minds and hearts.

I’ve known what it means to grieve your child’s death. I understand the nuances of relationship breakdown after experiencing a divorce.

I believe that you are the expert on what you need for mental wellness.

This knowledge is one of your greatest strengths.

As we work together, you’ll be better able to:

  • Set boundaries and advocate more for yourself

  • Identify easily what you need, as opposed to pleasing others

  • Learn to accept the things you cannot control

These skills will make your life less stressful and more fulfilling. Life in your family, with your partner, or at work or school will feel better. You’ll be more equipped to let the anxiety go.

When we journey together, we’ll collaborate on the best treatment plan for you. Some of the modalities I use are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). The most important thing for you to know is that I am dedicated to being flexible and meeting you where you are.

We’ll work within a framework which respects and values your cultural identity, background, and experiences. Personally, I know what it is like to try to steer through a mental health system and feel racialized. I emigrated to a different country when I was 13 to a place where few people looked like me.

I love being a therapist because it is an honour to take the journey of remodelling your life with you.
